muslim contributions to mankind

the president a week ago or so spoke of the contributions Muslims have made to the world. i know they invented mathamatics and a nemerical system in the 6th century..Soup somewhat later .and suicide bombers in the 20th century [although ,the concept may have been stolen from the Tamils ] Does anyone know of any other significant positive contributions that Muslims have made?
