While they read the quran we can use just anything, it's an advantage. Lawrence I would say is quite an authentic source, having lived in the region, speaking the language, and with some record of success. What is more striking to me is the different approach by Petraeus. No longer is he willing to pursue a given goal with everything he's got believing that the us military cannot be stopped anyway. The Lawrence type of approach is different. You pick a goal out of the few opportunities that are realistic in a given environment, it is more about in influence rather than a clear direction.
