Israeli-made drones against the KurdsReader comment on item: Islamist Turkey Overreaches Submitted by Ianus (Poland), Jun 29, 2010 at 18:29 Dear Barry Black , You write : > However, my point is still valid. To Turkey, the rebellious Kurds in Northern Iraq are terrorists and they take decisive and strong action and all the better with support from the USA. < The only lesson I have learnt studying Turkish history and Turks' behaviour is that you will never ever learn from a Turk what's wrong with Turkey unless you know it from other non-Turkish sources . In other words , you may dispatch ALL official Turkish stories to Alice's Wonderland . They are invented not to explain what it is really going on in Turkey , but to misguide us on the subject . Now as far as the Kurds are concerned , their cause is clear and legitimate . During Kemal's jihad against the Entente between 1919-1922 , officially called "the war of independence" , Ghazi (=successful Jihadist ) Mustafa Kemal promised the Kurds more than they had been given by the treaty of Sèvres from 1920 and in the treaty they were given a Kurdish state . But after the common jihad was over , Ghazi started the ruthless campaign of oppression and extermination of the the Kurds denying them even the right to call themselves "Kurds". He officially called them "Mountain Turks" . During the bloody war against the Kurds in the 1980-1990-ies where the Turks stationed a huge army in Kurdistan and relied heavily on US weapons to implement their grand scheme of wiping out c. 3000 Kurdish villages and expelling some 2 000 000 people. The Turkish ingeniosity as far as terror and oppression is concerned is really fine . The National Security Council of Turkey sanctioned a covert war using the special forces, village guards, mafia, and contract killers to hunt down and exterminate Kurds following Ghazi Kemal's idea of Endloesung of the Kurdish problem . On a different daily note if you are a Kurd in Turkey you mustn't give your children Kurdish names , you can get jailed for selling cassettes with Kurdish music or for having a shop with a Kurdish name on charges of Aricle 141 and 142 of the Turkish Penal Code which "protect the economic institutions and social foundations of the nation" and prescribe 5-15 years imprisonment for those "seeking to destroy the political and legal order of the state." Now you tell me "To Turkey, the rebellious Kurds in Northern Iraq are terrorists" and I understand that you are credulously repeating the official Turkish propaganda . But tell me relying on common sense and your intlelect instead of unverifiable Turkish claims "To Kurds who are those Turks and their oppressive state stained with multiple genocides , infamous for its genocide denials and a bloody and consistent record of terror and oppression against the Kurds ? " ... May I hope you won't try to convince me - as I have the impression that Dr. Pipes sometimes unwittingly seems to be doing - that because Turks are "secularists" , "staunch allies" of America , a "NATO member" , then all their crimes can be forgotten and forgiven , while all their glib lies are believed and repeated ? " Turkey will have a more difficult time condemning Israel for anti-terrorism activities". Not really . After all Turkey is successfully using Israeli-made drones to locate and hit Kurdish positions in Eastern Turkey and Northern Iraq. Turks are impudent and cynical hypocrites . They organize a flotilla provocation against Israel and at the same time with a suave smile greedily grab at the newest Israeli military technology which they need ! As the above link informs :
The same source says "more than 300". The number of refugees as a result of Turkish terror raids seems to be ten times higher . Well , the Turks would gladly increase it a thousand times carrying out another genocide adding to the mountain of mutilated Armenian Greek corpses a mountain of dead Kurds . It is what they are best at , aren't they ? But in the meatime , they must be more modest and be satisfied with a smaller number of victims relying on Israeli technology and naivety or greed to get the best result possible under the strained present circumstances .
