Turks are never interested in what is true.Reader comment on item: Islamist Turkey Overreaches Submitted by Ianus (Poland), Dec 21, 2012 at 16:03 ek wrote : > it is also true that turkey needs russia for many things as a neighbour like russia need turkey. < What Turkey needs Russia for is to grab its territory and resources. It is this "need" that has defined the Russian-Turkish relations ever since the Turks and their Tatar vassals and janissaries went to enslave, conquer and Islamize Moscow sending millions of Russian and Polish slaves in the process to Turkish slave markets. Note that what you write about Turkey as being a hub of trafficing Russian prostitutes is just a revival of this old Turkish slave trade. > as to pan-turkism, i think it was a 19th century and earlier 20th century ideology especially amongst those turks who escaped from the brutalities of russians. it is not a prevailing idea amongst turkish people any more. < Frankly, I don't have any respect to Turkish "thinking". No doubt the most "horrifying" Russian "brutalities" your turks were escaping from was that the Russians suppressed their banditism and terror raids against their giaour neighbors, abolished everywhere medieval shariah on behalf of humane Christian laws and destroyed their flourishing Mahometan slave trade and slave markets. How horrifying and brutal sins in the eyes of turks ! Alexander Hinstein , a Russian State Duma representative and a member of the ruling Party "United Russia" wrote some 10 years ago an extremely intersting article "The janissaries of cloak and dagger" on the subject about which you try haqrd to disinform us. Let me translate from it a few passage for you to expose what you said as another standard Turkish lie. "Turkish spies and secrets agents had not been caught here for almost half a century -since the end of WWII. In the old days against the USSR the main espionage agencies involved were the CIA, the German BND and the British SIS. The Turks had nothing tod do here but all has changed since 1991. The number of caught Turkish spies has soared in tens. Just last year in only one region of Russia 6 (!) Turkish MIT spies were arrested. By way of comparison all over Russia last year 30 spies were revealed...." One caught Turkish spy confessed : "We've been told that the Russians know no patriotism , no ideology ; that money can buy everything with them , everyone among them ! ... The Turkish intelligence Service sees Russia as the main enemy. In a direct confrontation they can't be defeated , that is why they must be demoralized and subverted from within ... Nazim may not know that the espionage school where he has been trained is not the only one in operation . In fact nowadays all of Turkey is covered with a tight web of such subversion and espionage "schools". Special agents are being taught in them. Some are to work in Russia, others in different hostile countries like Syria or Iran. Training there lasts between 3 months and a year. They work under strict military discipline. The graduates receive training or mock tasks. Some go to Russia - to get adapted first to feel safer during the next - and this time real - spying or subversion mission . .. A bit of statistics - last year the turnover of goods and services between Russia and Turkey amounted to $ 4,5 bln. Every year Russian tankers and ships leave $ 2,5-3 bln and $ 1,5 bln are added by Russian tourists. All in all Turkish construction firms in Russia earn c. $ 7 bln. One more billion the Turks earn through transport all over Russia. What is going on? Why is the country that has been fed and made fat with our money waging an undeclared war against us? ... In Turkey one is saving money on everything except on espionage . All the Pan-Turkist and Islamists programs are bing fully financed. They are being exported to Russia .... General Fiodorov " Pan-Turkist interests which the Turkish espionage network is pursuing are not only rooted in ideology. The Turks must conquer a new Lebensraum (жизненное пространство). Every year Turkey's population increases by millions. And ours decreases. Besides, they don't have energy resources or minerals. And we do." " How so?" - I wondered "Their intention is to destroy Russia and grab our land?" The general grinned "Not at once and not today. But Intelligence Service doesn't just live in the current moment. These are long-term strategic goals. But the future when they are going to materialize is not so far off." For the time being it is calm and quiet in the Turkish tourist resorts. The tourist season has not begun yet. But it will open soon and one more million Russian tourists will bring another $ 1,5 bln to Turkey. But this money will come back to Russia like a boomerang. They will assume the form of weapons for Chechen or Dagestani terrorists, spying fees and bonuses , new Pan-Turkic schools and lycées. And who knows? Maybe your husband or brother will be killed with a machine gun or a bomb bought with the money you have left in Turkey? At least not with mine because after this article it is clear that the Turks will never ever let me in into their "fabulous" country. But I don't care ! To go to Turkey today is like going on holiday to Baden-Baden during the Nazi invasion of Russia. " As one Russian told me. One has to learn two things in life. First how to operate an AK 47 and then our history to learn who you will be shooting at. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
