The NYT can still mis-comprehend

in a rebuttal to this article the NYT Robert Wright draws the opposite conclusion: That according to Shahzad al Jiahdi actions against the USA are in revenge for US maltreatment of Muslims world-wide. Wright conclusion is that the US should do as Shahzad suggests and thereby gain amnesty from would be mollified jihadis.

But what Wright forgets, as is typical of those allowed to pour their thoughts on the hallowed pages of NYT, is that Islam's grievance is with anyone standing in the way of Islam's imperialistic march. The US, by refusing (at least sometimes) to lay down its weapons and allow Islam to walk in triumphant, is a terrorist infidel entity which must be crushed, with willing help from such vapid non-comprehensionists (the so called usefull idiots) as Mr Wright.

Professor Pipes looks for victory on Militant Islam, as if there is a way to separate militant Islam from non-militant Islam. Well there is one way to defeat Militant Islam without shooting a single bullet. The way is to expel them from wherever they had already triumphed. The proper response of the USA to the barbaric attack on New York is not an invasion of Muslim lands but the repatriation of Muslims to their lands.
