Response to Dr. MaidunReader comment on item: [The Issue of Compulsion in Religion:] Islam is What Its Followers Make of It Submitted by Hindu4Life (United Kingdom), Aug 6, 2010 at 16:34 ... You obviously think you're ... trying to recruit new people into Islam online. Oh and by the way before i continue with my comment, i did get some great satisfaction from your answer, satisfaction in knowing that i am truly following the right God (and yes i am a Hindu). Wondering why i am making such as claim, simply because my god is firstly merciful, kind, loving and everything great and the proof of this is the fact that virtually no Hindu (except a couple) have even gone to war and used hinduism or god as a justification. Where as this is all the Islam (or to be correct Muslims) seems to do, wage war on the world and then say that Allah commanded you to do so. Now for what its worth, i actually dont believe a single thing when people say Allah commanded me to go to war, that is just mans lack of understanding and misintreptation of the Qur'an. Something mainly fuelled by the lack of education in Islamic countries. I personally believe that god (whether it's Ram, Krishna, Allah or anyone else) is setting the religion they lead a test on how peaceful they can be, and to date islam is probably the biggest failure. But anyway lets have a quick school of thought, if Allah for example was the only god. Why the heck would he want his children to kill each other? The Qur'an specifically states that Muhammad said "You have your religion, i have mines". For your notes i have and am currently reading the Qur'an. I have made it a mission to read the main scriptures of every major religion, and to date have found nothing anywhere that would make me want to convert away from Hinduism. Not because Hinduism is the worlds best, but because actually every religion is equal. Its mans views on proving that his way is best that has corrupted gods name and religion. If that all to complex for you, heres another school of thought, people (mostly Muslim) say that the Hindu scriptures contain references to Muhammed, so what if it does. Has anyone actually stopped to think maybe all the gods of every religion actually hang out together. Abit like the Greek Gods do in Olympus, and that references of gods or prophets in other religious text is actually their plan in making everyone come together in unity, forgetting their differences and practicing their own individual religion as Humans and not Muslims, Chritians, Jews, Hindus, Sikh and any other religion or faith group. But anyway back to your point on Idol Worship, which i assume is a dig at Hindus who "Idol Worship". There is a very great and profound reason for this. It is because Hindus (or actually on a more correct level - the Sanatana Dharma), believe that god is omnipresent, he is in everything and anything and as result it is "the concept" of Idol worshipping that allows Hindus to get closer to god. After all We firstly claim to have 330 Millions god, well actually one god who takes 330 Million forms. Besides i distinctly remember reading that Muhammad when he went to Mecca to the Kabba destroyed all but one Idol. If Islam is so against Idol worship, why did he not destroy them all. For those that wish to say i am wrong and that Muhammad did destroy them all, then ok lets say he did. The Qur'anic interpreation of Idol Worship as Luqmaan said to his son is placing anything but god with more importance. At this point i hope you are thinking... Ok stop, so lets bring this closer to home, read [12:106] in the Qur'an it clearly states the following "The majority of those who believe in GOD do not do so without committing idol worship". or even more closer as i am now on a role, read [4:116] it says the following "GOD does not forgive idol worship (if maintained until death), and He forgives lesser offenses for whomever He wills. Anyone who idolizes any idol beside GOD has strayed far astray." For Hindu's the whole point is that we Idol Worship an Idol of GOD. Not my neighbour or his dog, but God. The biggest misconception Islam has about Hinduism is this. If you still think you are right then how about this, pratically every Muslim is an Idol worshippor. Why because you all spend more time doing your day to day things than praying, yes you do Namaaz 5 times a day, but it lasts 20 minutes at a time tops. so what 1 hour 40 minutes for god and 22 hours 20 for me. Plus if Islam is so against Idol worship, why do Muslim homes and Masjid's have pictures of the Kabba in Mecca, or more importantly why have the Kabba, why not destroy it. it is after all an Idol of God, may be not in human shaped form but none the less you believe that it helps you get closer to God. At this point i expect you to probably be fuming and ranting and raving like a girl, saying "how dare you insult islam". The simple fact is i am not, what i am doing is invoking a school of thought that is outside of what you know. Professionals call it thinking outside the box. As for you still claiming you are right and that i am wrong, well frankly anyone with a sane mind reading this will agree with me, why because i have unequivocally proven that firstly Idol worship wrong or right is done by everyone (as per the very extracts of the Qur'an) something you cannot argue with and because my school of thought far surpasses you child like way of ranting. God Bless
