Fort Apache, The Middle East.Reader comment on item: Immanuel Kant vs. Israel Submitted by Cherif El-Ayouty (Denmark), Aug 18, 2010 at 05:27 No, I did not mean "Fort Apache, the Bronx".Remember all those famous frontier military posts that were established to secure a bridge head for those pioneers opening up the New World to civilisation? Well, I find lots of similarity between the pioneers' forts of the old days and Israel today. The jews came to the most backward land in the Middle East (with the exception of Yemen, which at that time was still in the Middle Age) and brought with them definitely the civilisation of the New World, this time of 1945, after a world war that propelled humanity into a new era of technologies, social structures and a wide open doors into the future. It is true that the territories ofthe Protectorate of Palestine had in those days some cities. a telephone network, hospitals and one of the best hotels in the world, but all signs of modernity were brought up by the British and Europeans not by Arabs. The newcomers had just as much chance of integrating the indigenious people into their civilisation as the pioneers had with the Red Indians of North America during five centuries. Israel today is still an advanced fort fro the Western world trying to pioneer its way through a world whose inhabitants do not want our civilisation. Not that they have their own civilisation that can provide them with the basics of a decent modern society, but they simply prefer to regress into the Stone Age of Muhammad's days. It is very unfair from any segment of the Western world to be harsh agains one of their own, that is not a rogue entity but a definite tool by which the backward Middle East can learn from and transform its members into a worthy partner within our world. Many Forts in the old day commited mistakes of various degrees but they had never lost the core of their mission and importance to the New World. Otherwise the Americas would not have existed today. Arguably, Fort Israel does have some different parameters to operate within but we must never forget its importance as a strategic and utmost necessary tool to protect our interests in the whole Western world from being harmed by today's Red Indians of the Middle East. Israel is our eyes, ears and protector in a region where all our enemies are located and thus its strategic position must never be compromised. We also must not forget that israel is not only an advanced pioneering post in hostile territory that is costing us lots of expenses. Israel is an inextricable partner in the wheel of progress of the Western world through its participation in the betterment of our life quality and through its heavy positive impact on the arts, the finances and the sciences. Let us not forget who is the crook here.
