Imposition of the Loss of Freedom of Speech - It's Already HEREReader comment on item: Late Breaking Rushdie-Rule Developments Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Oct 5, 2010 at 16:18 If we see that in the country that championed the modern right of free speech, regardless of the vitriol mixed with the pathology of hatred that rankles persons of moderate sensibilities, that such speech is now to be censored for the expedience of some political motivation, can it now be concluded that the Constitution of the United States is no longer the controlling law, but instead is that of Administrative Executive and judicial edict? In that perspective, we can also categorize reciprocity of speech, for we have seen demonstrations of social, political, religious and anarchic disrespect for speech that does not follow the sensibilities of the would-be censors. The lack of free expression has been a tool of political exercise and religious repression the world round, the contravening existence of free speech in America only tolerated in respect for the founding agents' intent to provide liberties for citizens free from excessive governmental control. Were those men of the greater moral character of that age to be given a glimpse in this age of the travesties perpetrated today in the name of the purer intentions of the founding agents, they would likely reject the notion of the American society today as it squanders the freedom so dearly paid for and wonder why they did what they did in the first place. Free speech in America deserves better than what it is getting. The abuses of expression in the name of the Constitution were never intended to preclude the expression of the mindset of the liberty that gave American free speech its breath. And yet, the enemies of free speech have been able to turn that liberty to their advantage, in subterfuge of law, and in plain abuse against citizens who would preserve the sanctity of free speech, but are pulled down in intolerance for their point of view and quashed by improper actions of legal impunity that disgraces the true intent of the freedom formerly guaranteed by the founding agents. It is that frame of reference that we see the ability of an American to make an observation of an opposing opinion to the sensibilities of belief in the context of the issues found in this forum, from the discussions of whether one religious expression is more sanctified than another, or that actions against one religious expression deserves protection from another in response to a supposed act of defamation and denigration, but that the ability of the American citizen is curtailed from extra-Constitutional legalities imposed from beyond the American shore. It is this that disgraces the true intent of the freedom formerly guaranteed by the founding agents. Yet, it is inevitable; for the source of the power that gave such freedom to Americans is being withdrawn for the lack of its recognition. But let us look at that power, and why it is central to the exchanges of religious vitriol for those who do not believe in its supremacy. America was founded in part upon the Biblical idea of freedoms necessary to worship without imposition of religious persecution for varying belief systems. In the environment of that freedom, true Christianity flourished to provide a witness of the love of Almighty God through Jesus Christ and His substitutionary death on the cross and subsequent resurrection. In the context of the freedom that this country gave such opportunity for the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, opponents rose to counter and obstruct, eventually to use the freedom guaranteed by the Constitution as the means to challenge the truth of the Holy Bible. That was from within this country's borders. Now we see that obstruction comes from outside, and with governmental sanctions to boot from the current American Administration. So, we can conclude that not only is there not going to be reciprocity of speech; but further the intensification of the repression of the truth and power of this country's former freedom is the course the powers that be would take this nation, and in the process give comfort and succor to those that would hasten the process. There is an alternative which has been spoken of before, but fewer and fewer will be paying attention to any such means; for in the oblivious attitude of the enemies of truth, they will not recognize it until it is too late, and would never respond to it anyway.
