Not all wars of independence are created equalReader comment on item: Non-Muslims Who Fast for Ramadan Submitted by Rajeev (United States), Jan 17, 2011 at 12:19 Dear Dr Pipes: Islamists have a very ambiguous stands when it comes to terrorists -- until a terrorist strikes he/she is a peace-loving fellow Muslim and after he strikes he becomes someone "who cannot be true Muslim". It a perfect heads-I-win-and-tails-you-lose proposition. And, many naive non-muslims who go out of their way to appease Islamists do not realize that not all wars of independence and not all social movements are created equal. In particular, a war or social movement whose sole purpose is to establish a theocracy cannot be considered legitimate. As a people who believe in separation of church and state (and live by it), we Americans should question the legitimacy of all Islamist wars -- in Kashmir, in southern Philippines, and, yes, in Israel.
