what is backstairs political literature?

not familiar with that term, what does it mean?

i found the book in the '25 cent' box at a used book store.

the thing that i remember most is when he goes off ranting about how Korean war veterans were 'traitors' because they were tortured into confession in North Korea. ironically, right around the time i was reading it, Jane Mayer was doing the tour for The Dark Side, telling us all how the modern US torture program descended directly from North Korea, by way of the military's "resistance training".

anyways. i also remember it being extremely full of footnotes and initially somewhat reasonable structure, (IE describing the Fabian Society lineage to modern communist thinkers) until he would go off on these wild extrapolations, sort of like Glenn Beck.
