inaccuracies...?Reader comment on item: Remarkable Israel Submitted by Louise (Israel), Jun 15, 2011 at 18:02 The article you linked to fails to point out that the new techniques are untried and untested. They believe that they will be less polluting than previous methods, but some (still significant) level of pollution is inevitable. The article says that the method does not use water, whereas previously, the same "experts" have stated explicitly that they will be using very large amounts of water in their new "improved" process - and water is a commodity that we do not have in excess. Apart from that, it remains for me to point out that one of the reasons they are so keen to drill for shale oil in Israel is that no other country is willing to be guinea pig for this "new" process - look at the environmental damage done in Sweden and in Colorado, each time with a "new, improved" method since the previous such similar project... And it is only the fact that we have an antiquated oil law that allows them to bypass the need to have the process evaluated by a neutral/governmental body before they can destroy parks and antiquities and cycling paths... Submitting....
