Nothing newReader comment on item: Restrictions on Palestinians in Lebanon Submitted by Nick (United Kingdom), Jun 18, 2011 at 18:21 This is hardly a new phenomena and has been the prevailing sentiment in Lebanon for many many years now. Given Lebanon's complicated and unfortunate history with the Palestinians it is not surprising. Whilst I deeply empathize with the Palestinian's plight both inside and outside of Lebanon, the interests and wishes of the Lebanese must also ultimately be taken into account. A deeper reading of the reasons behind the Lebanese civil war make it clear why Lebanon continues to ultimately treat it's Palestinian population in a less than stellar way. Not to say that this is right or justified but simply this is the way it is. The only solution to this problem is ultimately a final comprehensive peace deal which will see Palestinian refugees and their descendants take up residency in a new Palestinian state. Having said that however there should be definitely be more done to ensure better treatment for the Palestinians currently in Lebanon.
