Compare and contrast Pals and UighursReader comment on item: Restrictions on Palestinians in Lebanon Submitted by Dave (United States), Feb 13, 2022 at 15:00 Muslim attitudes towards the Palestinians in Lebanon, and elsewhere, are shockingly negligent, but it is strangely reminiscent of Muslim insouciance about the plight of the Uighurs in China. In both cases we have Muslim ethnic groups which are allegedly victims of non-Muslims. Setting aside the obvious differences, such as the far greater degree of provocations in the case of the Palestinians against the Israelis compared to the provocations of the Uighurs against the Chinese, in both cases one would expect an outpouring of sympathy and support from Muslims, but that is not the case. Instead, in the Palestinian case we see them exploited for propaganda purposes while being abused, and in the Uighur case, we see neglect of China's extreme persecution by Muslim states. From a western point of view, the immorality and hypocrisy of it all stands out. In the Palestinian case, there is the total lack of any assumption of responsibility for the genocidal attacks against Israel which created the Palestinian refugee situation in the first place. Israel was all wrong while the Arabs were blameless. The immorality is carried further in hypocritically mistreating the very unfortunates that they claim to care so much about. In the Uighur case, not only do the Muslim countries fail to call out China, but some of them, such as Iran and Turkey, join with China as close allies. Western countries deserve a lot of blame as well. The Olympics have been proceeding normally, and it is not China, but Israel, that is ganged up on in the UN, showing that Muslim propaganda has many followers among non-Muslims. Evil is doing very well in today's world. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
