Iraqi Civil WarReader comment on item: U.S. Needs To Learn Patience [in Iraq] Submitted by Leonard Markowitz (United States), Nov 30, 2004 at 18:19 Regardless of what the US armed forces do or don't do, I am convinced that Iraq will eventually implode into a civil war splitting the nation into a Shiite South, a Sunni mid-section and a Kurdish Northeast.While a tragedy of war, this is not necessarily a deleterious event for the US. As Israel has learned long ago, the best ally they have involves the internecine jealousy and warfare among the Arab states. Trying to force democracy onto a 17th century people, who have never known that concept and who rely upon a tribal mentality will never work regardless of the altruisitic intent. Leonard Markowitz
