abc Q and A program
Reader comment on item: Islam, Israel and Insurgents

Saw you on the Australian ABC Q and A tv program last night. To suggest that the sub prime mortgage fiasco could have been avoided with LESS government financial regulation rather than with more regulation really defies belief. ... I would be interested in your explanation as to what the outcome would have been if your suggestion had been in place. Regards Mike James

As I understand it, the sub-prime mortgage crisis was precipitated by policies of the Clinton administration.
