social media of the west is what made the difference between now and then. "domestic issues, unemployment, rising costs" existed for decades why now? HANIFA DEEN missed that detail. "I don't see Israel as a model of democracy for what's happened recently" I don't get what she meant by saying "for what's happened recently". I think there is a failure to understand that democracy is not about achievements in science or in military might as can be seen as well in iran who working toward this goal and has its own satellite. they have transportation that Israel only now started to develop such as light train.

But democracy measured IMO through people's involvement of forming and shaping their own state. referendum and polls. free press something which does not exist in non democratic countries I believe. israel has these fundamentals. these aspects should have brought by you dear Daniel Pipes. israel is not a democracy in whole sense of definition but democracy nonetheless. as you probably aware that israel does not have separation of religion and state. which I fear will bite us Israelis in soon future if we leave it that way. I think in all sum whether you may have been wrong or right you were into the point of the discourse. NICK MINCHIN was proper as well. others (DOUG CAMERON, HANIFA DEEN) unfortunate resorted to ad hominem. do they not learn that logical fallacy is not a way to prove their point??? SUELETTE DREYFUS suggestion to divert aid funds from israel to arab countries to assist to develop civil society is a pipe dream. if that was a solid case for arab countries israel would itself suggested that.
