Lest There Be Any Questions on the Revised Egyptian Sentiment Towards IsraelReader comment on item: The Attack on Israel's Embassy in Cairo Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Sep 28, 2011 at 16:16 The peculiarity of Egypt's place in the Middle East has been one of strange convolutions for years, especially after making 'peace' with Israel and losing face with the Muslim community for having done so. Given that the military still seems to wield the dominant power in that land, the next and obvious step for in-house Islamists is eventually to renounce the peace agreement (a hudna by most Muslim influenced thinking) and take up arms against the Israeli frontier when the time comes. But, will that really happen? It is likely; only time is marching and the decision to do so needs to be, for the Egyptians, reconciled quickly. Israel should probably be postured for any event or probability-the attack on the Cairo Israeli representative and its implications not needing too much more to be read into.
