Dear Mr. JeffReader comment on item: Ending the Palestinian "Right of Return" Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Feb 13, 2012 at 06:13 Jeff : Traditionally, all ethnic groups have preserved their culture in their homes, clubs, churches and temples. Only the so-called leaders of one Hispanic group, basically ignored by most Hispanics, demands that the public schools teach their particular history. My Answer : I wonder what do you mean that all ethnic groups are allowed to preserve their cultures. Does that mean that the Native-Americans are allowed to teach their children how President Andrew Jackson destroyed their inhabitants and uprooted them from their territories ? Are the Arabs from Iraq allowed to teach that it was the America-inspired sanctions that killed 100000 Iraqi babies from 1992-2003 period ? Are the Iranian-Americans allowed to taught their children that it was an American president who overthrew the most secular leader Mr. Mossadegh in 1953 thereby killing any chance of popular political participation in Iran till 1979 ? Regarding La Raza's demands , what is wrong that to let the Hispanics know that the states of Texas , California and Arizona were actually their original inhabitants till the Anglo-Saxons snatched it away from them in 1848 and Mr. Lincoln supported the war aims in general ? Jeff : We have lots of ethnic groups here, and they generally keep and celebrate their cultures while also celebrating being American. My Answer : America has got the biggest share of prison populations per capita in the whole World. And the majority of the prisoners are actually non-Anglo Saxons i.e. African-Americans and Hispanics. So is this the country of freedom ? I wonder why there are so many non-Anglo Saxon people rotting in prison in a country which is supposed to be the "land of the free" ? Jeff: Anyone here is free to study his ethnic history, or any history, for that matter. My Answer : Ohh so why Bradley Manning is behind the bars dear sir ? He was also researching the history of US involvement in Iraq and elsewhere and willing to share his knowledge with the rest of the America and World. So why is he behind the bars ? Jeff : Having patiently followed a process to immigrate legally and obtain American citizenship, none of them has any kind words for those who jumped ahead of them in line by sneaking illegally into the country. My Answer : I guess you feel proud for the pilgrims and the group ld by John Winthorp. Now please tell me what law did they follow when they landed in what is now America and displaced the sons of the soil i.e. the native Americans? I wonder your views on illegal immigrants do not include the pilgrims and the Puritans. I guess I know the reason. You consider them as special if not exceptional since they were from Anglo-Saxon background right ? Regarding access to any history book in your country , are you allowed to read Howard Zinn or Noam Chomsky or Gilad Atzmon ? I guess you probably have never come across the work these people have done. Then you probably would not have said anything like this.
