Question about leftists

Dear Dr Pipes,

I never understand the leftists and would like to get your and other readers' opinion on this. In every democracy of the world from USA to Western Europe to India, the leftists are the biggest supporters of the Islamists but they maintain complete silence about the draconian practices and lack of religious freedom prevalent in Islamic countries. What explains this phenomenon? If you take a typical leftist from any of these democracies and force him or her to live in an Islamic country, will s/he become the biggest revolutionary or the biggest coward or the biggest hypocrite? I fail to understand and will appreciate others' opinion.
