Whom should we believe ?Reader comment on item: Spy vs. Spy, America vs. Israel Submitted by Göran Burenstein (Sweden), Aug 7, 2012 at 15:01 I've recently read Mr Shamai Leibovitz blog. Could You comment on this ? Who is lying, Mr Leibovitz or American press ? He writes like that: http://pursuingjustice.blogspot.se/2012/06/freedom-to-act-and-freedom-to-ignore.html Unfortunately, many people consider whatever they read on the web or in the newspapers as the truth set in stone. What can you do against it? Not much! All I can say is that my work had nothing to do with the Israeli Embassy and I certainly never listened to wiretaps of the Israeli Embassy. How do people make up such stuff??? To think that the FBI would ask me to eavesdrop on the Israeli Embassy is beyond comprehension. I would never agree to do that. First, it doesn't seem to me they would ever ask (because I am rather known in Israel, and so I am not exactly someone "under the radar" who would be the perfect target to do such a thing). Second, even if they would ask, I would never do it; I would never do something that can be interpreted as working against the State of Israel. I am a proud Israeli citizen (even in prison I made sure we always included a prayer for the State of Israel, and also organized a Yom Ha'atzmaut celebration, albeit without the great-tasting Israeli wines:) I have no problem - as was falsely alleged - with Israelis lobbying Congress.
