job interviewReader comment on item: Impressions of the Veep Debate Submitted by myth (Germany), Oct 14, 2012 at 01:53 Ten minutes into the debate it seemed to me, "my friend" Ryan was in a job interview applying for an internship in Biden's office. A deaf viewer could identify who was on which end of the pointed finger. A blind listener would single out the hierarchy from the laughter. Next time Ahmadinejad allows for an interview on american tv Biden should be the interviewer. That said, don't leave Big bird at the mercy of Biden. On the other hand Biden proved a sharp listener which is what enabled him to fact-check Ryan on the fly. I am afraid, Ryan never took the effort to understand his opponent's arguments from the democratic standpoint. Biden scores a win with the media. I see fear rather than victory. Biden's deliberately giving an "unpleasant impression" is intended to conceal that fear. Losing the presidency is a realistic outcome, not merely a possible one. Substance there was none, let alone guiding principles. Foreign policy became identical to discussing military intervention in the Middle East. An intuitive starting point for a substantial foreign policy debate would have been this: the USA is located among neighbors on the american continent and has NATO allies in Western Europe.
