I have to agree with Ed KochReader comment on item: Obama's Anti-Zionism Submitted by Ron Thompson (United States), Jan 23, 2013 at 13:32 I am glad there is at least one public figure that agrees with my pre-election view that a vote for Obama would probably be dangerous on foreign policy grounds, but that a vote for Romney would be catastrophic on domestic economic grounds. I told several people that I would vote strongly for Obama over a greedy multi-millionaire (I still want to see his tax records) and sworn enemy of the middle and working classes of this country, but that I fully expected to have to pivot 180 degrees on Wed, the day after the election and begin to noisily oppose him with regard to Israel and Islam. It is disturbing that so many Jews aren't more fully and intelligently supportive of Israel, but in my view it is entirely praiseworthy that they are true to the social justice and social fairness values of the Jewish tradition going all the way back to the Old Testament prophets. It is also disturbing to me that so many who are clear-eyed about the danger Islam represents to the world, as shown most vividly in its unrelenting hatred toward Israel, are probably discrediting this view by also allying themselves with the lurch backwards of the Republican party since the 1970's, in pursuit of some fantasized utopia of rampant individualism that supposedly existed in pre-Progressive and pre-New Deal America. I voted as I did, along with Mayor Koch, because I reasoned that that danger, of the domestic lurch backwards, was more immediate than the danger now of Obama's increased hostility towards Israel, and continued blindness (or worse) towards imperialist Islam.
