Colonial BoundriesReader comment on item: 50 Years of Syrian Misery Submitted by EthanP (United States), Mar 8, 2013 at 16:54 I believe that "a" problem, though not the only one, in Syria, the Middle East, and Africa and parts of Asia is that the boundaries are artificial without regard for the local populations. To go into detail would require at least a PHD Thesis. But most of these "nations" do not take into account ethnic and religious divisions. One only need examine the "mess" the Kurds and Tauregs cause due to being spread across numerous national boarders and a majority nowhere. And of course none of this is helped by these synthetic colonial boundaries being now permanent by a totally morally corrupt international system. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
