Well, Assad made sure he would regret his choice of not making a choice and killed him. Now about Begin not understanding this or that. Begin, having been the head of an underground, head of opposition for 29 years, knew quite a lot. What he did not understand is why Maronites, given the chance of throwing off the Dhimmi yoke, preferred to remain Dhimmis, even though israel, a bunch of refugee Jews had proved it is doable. Lebanese Nation? What nation is that? its a hodge-podge of sects at each other's throats 90 percent of the time!!

The same can be said of other Dhimmi sects, which had a choice to differentiate themselves from Muslim overlords, and preferred to cower. Begin, being a free man by choice, underestimated the power of Dhimmitude. As for the present calamity, no I am not happy at all. Its a holocaust of sorts to have 12 million people displaced. But again, having heard their absolute silence when Muslims were practicing their jihad on the Jews, it is not surprising that their pleas are met by the same silence from the rest of the West.
