Israel and the Maronites and the CoptsReader comment on item: Remembering Thatcher, Persecution of Christians, Dealing with Syria Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Apr 18, 2013 at 07:05 Yuval wrote First, we have been here for far far longer. israel is the only sovereignty which was re-established, for the third time, after a two-millenia hiatus Sure and this is great and I'm not even debating this Second, both the Copts and the Maronites came before Islam, Very true and as a matter of fact the Church of St. Mark (el-Morqusiyya) is the oldest institution not just in Egypt but also in the Middle East and it existed for about 2000 years and this speaks volumes for such an instiution and are now being wiped out by islam. I'm sure the fathers of the Coptic Church were saying some 1500 years ago that their church could be wiped by the Melkites (the imperial Byzantine Church in Egypt) and at the time of the time of the Persian invasion of Egypt in 616CE their churches was subjected to total destruction all over Egypt and then we have the Muslim/Arab invasion of Egypt and more destuction and the disasters go on and on until this day but the Copts and their Church are still there and they wil be there long after Islamism is a thing of the past The trick of being obliterated is one I have no wish to learn though my father narrowly escaped the Nazi calamity. With my respect to you and to the memory of the Jewish victims of Nazism, you are comparing apples and oranges. The Copts have always been in Egypt and they will always be there Copts and Maronites have adapted to Dhimmitude so well, I do not see anything wrong with trying to survive so do you have a problem with their survival? they would rather side with islam against the Jews. Again you are missing the point did you really understand what I wrote? let me help you: there is a disconnect between the Jewish state and the Copts and the Maronites like or not That is why they are going down. Again both groups the Copts and the Maronites have been throught this before and they will survive it They did not believe in their own bible which truthfully foretells Jewish resurrection. Yuval: Spare me this one I study history and I do not believe in what the Qur'an calls asateer al-awaleen or the "religious history/the books of the ancients" (read this as pious fiction) of the Jews and the Christians If one does not believe one's own cultural heritage, why survive? How could you judge others that you do not even seem to know? Let me tell you again these are very old and very sophisitaced groups that can for sure teach the leaders of Israel a trick or two about survival in this part of the world Jews have always held on to their bible and their treaty with the Lord - and are now vindicated And what does this have to do with the Copts and the Maronites? Yuval: It is about time that Israelis and their leaders get to know these minorities and learn how did they survive for so long in that part of the world and realize that might is never the answer
