Dear Mr. JeffReader comment on item: Intricacies of Egypt's Coup d'état Explained Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Aug 31, 2013 at 11:49 Dear Mr. Jeff, Even a fan of Winston Churchill? Really? Ever read what he had to say about Islam, in his book, The River War? He wrote it in 1899. Winston Churchill was a colorful person with a great sense of humor. And he was fond of making sarcastic comments about a lot of staff. He did call Mahatma Gandhi "a naked fakir" who according to Churchill did not have the worth to meet him , prime minister and the representative of the British King emperor. This is a man who is famously known for letting hundreds of thousands of innocent Bengalis die due to famine during the World War II as the food grains had to be imported to Myanmar feed the British war machine. You are talking about the book which was written when this colorful person was a rash young man (who thanks to his privileged aristocratic birth) hardly had to work to earn his bread. I believe that book as a result of his aristocratic ivory-tower intellectualism and thereby cannot be taken seriously. This was a man to whom only the people belonging to his strata of society with his own skin color mattered. Rest to him was nothing but rodents and flies which were not important to save. Period. Here is the latest report on Ibragim Todashev. (http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2013/08/why-its-vital-to-get-the-truth-about-ibragim-todashevs-killing/278664/) I guess even this US publication is not all convinced that he was a terrorist.
