surprised by Dr. Pipes

I am one of the most ardent critics of Dr. Pipes due to his frequent pandering to Islam bashers, but this critique of Dr. Dioup's work is excellent. I do not detect the bias ... I have to give credit where credit is due. Incidentally I am one of the reverts that he has spoken about, and my lineage go back to The Hausa on my mother's side and the Soninke on my father's side. Both of these tribes have a significant number of adherents of Islam. I was not aware of this prior to my reversion in 1978.
