Courage Lives!Reader comment on item: Which Way Will Abbas Go? Submitted by Arlinda DeAngelis (United States), Mar 17, 2005 at 21:29 Dr. Pipes, the voice of truth and the courage to speak it, singles him out as a man among men. This statement alone, "For Mr. Abbas, it is 1930. He understands the need to cool things down. As someone who can realistically appraise circumstances and quietly respond to them, he is potentially a far more formidable enemy to Israel than the one-note, blindly violent, and flamboyantly evil Arafat." is the clearest most articulate analysis of Abbas that I have ever read. It goes to the heart and soul of the Arabs in Palestine and their objective, the annihiliation of Israel. Arafat, the flamboyant killer, the flamboyant liar and pedophile was an obvious enemy. Abbas is far more dangerous to peace in the Middle East. He quiet and unassuming. He looks rather sane ... ah, the benality of evil. His loyalties lie with those that will assure his power be they terrorist and/or funder of terrorism. We cannot discount the riches and the power he will attain from the surrounding oil rich imperial Islamic Arab states if he can assure them that he will continue the process of annihilation. In the confusion of globalism and trade and national interests, as Dr. Pipes so brilliantly articulates, Abbas will subvert any and all peace agreements he signs, any peace agreement that he purports to favor. He will engage Hamas and Hezebollah and allow them to continue their imperialistic war against the Israelis and tell us he condemns any terrorist act. He is a frightening enemy and as exhausting as it is to continue our focus and fight against the Arabs in Palestine and their insane mission to annihilate Israel and as passionate as we long for peace, we must hold Abbas to the highest scrutiney. We must not allow him to slip between the cracks in the world's floor boards so he can continue the terrorism against the Israelis because he will. Why? Because that's what the so called "Palestinian Cause" is all about. It isn't now or ever was about some invented notion of a separate people seeking a homeland. It is, it was and it will always be about the annihilation of Israel. We cannot allow this to ever happen. The bells toll for all of us. Remember September 11th ,,, never forget..
