Tom Dundee raises a good pointReader comment on item: Muslim Russia? Submitted by Prashant (United States), Oct 26, 2013 at 23:36 Dear Dr Pipes, your reader Tom Dundee pointed out that Muslims refuse to assimilate. Dundee is absolutely right. In every society that they go to Muslims demand that they should not be discriminated against. They also put most demands on the local population (their religin, their language, their rights not to serve liquor and to treat dogs at haram etc). They also choose to live and act distinctively. They excessively promote their languages (e.g Khalil Gibran Academy), dress distinctively (Hijabs, beards), eat distinctively (halal food), and promote distinct lifferent financial (Islamic finance) and legal systems (sharia). In effect, the position of immigrant muslims is that they will discriminate as much as we want by creating an exclusionary society but no one else should discriinate against them. Just pointing out!!! Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
