There are some problematic factsReader comment on item: Cyprus Joins the Middle East Submitted by Alexandros (United Kingdom), Nov 8, 2013 at 03:15 The article asks of American support, i know that Israel has a good experience of American help, but the truth is that the Greek World does not have the same experience. Even though Greece has supported America throughout as a NATO member beginning from Korean war and even though Greece was the only country to stand against Soviet Union and never collaborate with them and against the Nazis, in the second case it was the only European country not only in the Balkans on the contrary America has stood only against Greece in all matters and in favour of Turkey. But let's give some examples. The Wikileaks have revealed American plans, made from Henry Kissinger himself, to divide Cyprus, these plans are no secret any more and everybody knows about them and they were made because Ankara demanded them and they happened as a fact with the occupation of Cyprus. The only goal of Turkey was to divide Cyprus so that Cyprus would n't unite with Greece at some point as it would normal be since the populations are one nation and there is nothing sacred for Ankara to guard on the island. Since the 50s Ankara was trying to create problems in the island so to seperate the Christian from the Muslim population, the Muslims who are called Turkish-Cypriots are not even Turks in the first place, but they were called like this since it was used in the Ottoman occupied territories to call muslims Turks at some point, but this was taken advantage from the Turkish side so to plan their invasion. The problem is though for the Turkish Cypriots as well since the Turks brought other people on the island as well, so to increase the Muslim population and they also fully suppressed the people using the occupying forces so to obey to their orders on the contrary the Greek Cypriot side is fully independent! Even though UN immediately voted the occupation as illegal and there is not a single country to have recognised this illegal and brutal action in the whole world, America not only did n't intervene, probably because they were busy in the oil rich territories of the Middle East, but they did not also allow Greece to defend Cyprus and in addition they were trying to bury this crime of Turkey. Now that oil and gas has been found US is showing interest to "solve" the problem. Yesterday 07/11/13 ambassador John Kening gave an interview at the cypriot channel RIK and said that Ankara is not expansionary against Cyprus, when a few months ago the Turkish government did not exclude another invasion? The question is why is the US government is working in favour of Turkey, a country which supports actively Al Qaeda and other terorrist groups, a country which playing games against America all the time, with more recent the agreement to buy Chinese anti-ballistic systems, a country that collaborated with the Nazis and the Soviets in the past, a country acting like a thug with a policy of no friends as the article comments? A country that goes against another NATO country (Greece) in every opportunity and every matter. Recent exaples for that, not only in the Aegean sea, where America supports again Turkey but also for the south stream pipe, a pipe designed by Russia, a pipe which should also cross Greece, but America did not allow it, probably because Ankara felt threatened and America did not allow it because Greece is a NATO country a pipe which is built in Bulgaria though another NATO country.
