Israel lost the war of languageReader comment on item: Chris Christie and the "Occupied Territories" Incident Submitted by Richard (China), Apr 15, 2014 at 06:14 Some Americans upset at France a few years back, wanted to call "French Fries" either "Liberty Fries" or "American Fries" It was a joke of a campaign. No one uses the term and ever will. "The Occupation" is sorta like that. If you say or do nothing at the time political terms are introduced and their use becomes widespread, you lose the important chess game of Language. There was no "Occupation" from 1948 to 1967 cited by Israel when Jordanian and palestinians conquered and occupied Judea Samaria including the Old City of Jerusalem. And it was under this occupation that the term "West Bank" was widely used for Judea Samaria for the first time. Think about that. For a few thousand years the land was referred to as "Judea Samaria" and for 19 years it was "The West Bank". Now today, how many people use the term "West Bank" and how many "Judea Samaria"? And who uses the term "East Bank"? No one. It is as if only one "Bank" exists. The Nation of Israel is responsible for the use of the term "occupation" by Christie. If starting in 1948, Israel was emphatic that "Jordan is Palestine" and that Jordan is occupying Jewish ancestral land in Judea Samaria and cleansing it of all Jews, maybe a lexicon more favorably to Israel would be in use by more people today. But Israel did no such thing. Not in 1948. Not in 1967. Not in 1973. Not even in 1988 when Jordan relinquished all "rights" to their "West Bank" and ceded those "occupation" rights to the palestinians. You cannot transfer conquered land to a Third Party. Jordan did and Israel said nothing. Israel has never stood up for her rights in respect to what is Judea Samaria. China did not budge on her right to Hong Kong and she still will not be moved on Taiwan and Tibet. And if you know Chinese History, China has good claim on all of them. I wish Israel had the gumption and steadfast position on Judea Samaria as China does on land it considers "ancestral" to the nation. Submitting....
