The Americans will be fooling themselves if they expect or trust that Canada will assist them in their fight against terror. Firstly, the Canadian Liberal Government is hanging on to power by a thread and the last thing they need to do is anger Islamists or indeed any enemies of the US who are potential supporters of the Liberal Party.

Consider the Khadr family (Canadian Citizens) who moved to Pakistan in 1998 to join the al-Qaeda terrorist network. Karim Khadr was shot in the spine and his father was killed during a shoot out with Pakistani security forces near the border with Afghanistan. The father, Ahmed Khadr, was a Canadian citizen and confidante of Osama bin Laden. The great compassionate Canadian Government immediately sent a special medically equipped plane to bring Karim Khadr back to Canada to receive medical treatment and financial assistance until he can, if ever return to work.

Do you remember the alert border guard who found a car in Washington state loaded with explosives coming off a ferry from Canada, headed for Los Angels with plans for killing more Americans? This terrorist, Ressam, lived on welfare in Montreal, yet was able to travel to the Middle East on a regular basis.

The great Liberal strategy to hang on to power is to move away from two centuries of friendship with the US and cozy up to France in order to keep Quebec from separating and to secure the immigrant vote. Why then should you be surprised or chagrined that in late December 2004, a three-day Islamist conference, "Reviving the Islamic Spirit," took place in Toronto, boasting a host of high-profile Islamist speakers such as Bilal Philips, Zaid Shakir, Siraj Wahhaj, and Hamza Yusuf.

Terrorists are welcome in Canada, as long as they know which party to support during the federal election.
