Someone Tell the Duck to Duck - It's Dark Out On That Roadmap to Peace.

Reader comment on item: Terrorism Defies Definition
in response to reader comment: Why did the lame duck cross the road?

Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Oct 31, 2014 at 18:22

An interesting observation, of a lame duck even considering crossing in all that traffic; but pushing someone else to clear a path to make a crossing, now that would be worth film at eleven. The cross border pandering to virtually every known potential enemy of the United States and Israel is becoming painfully clear to the thought of a rationale that seeks to gain control at someone else's expense. It is the premise of proxy fighting, is it not?

The current American Administrative Chief Executive's mindset and this ideology he keeps trying to insist is not his own has now been persuasively demonstrated as not only his, but it is shared with every sensibility that opposes a peaceful solution for Israel. If that is not plain enough, just wait for the climax. Before, Kobani was a shadowy theatre operation for which one wondered why ISIS/ISIL/IS spent so much time trying to consolidate a front towards Turkey. This is leading to a greater calamity.

What is happening north of Israel is part and parcel of what is happening in the south of the Negev. PM Netanyahu indeed, is playing hardball; and like the Giants' Baumgartner, seems to have an upper hand in making the right plays, in spite of some earlier issues.

The American Administration does not like Israel's play for peace and security and the answer as to why they do not is plain: they do not like Israel's place in the Middle East any more than the proxy pushing enemies of Israel either. Why does the lame duck even attempt to cross over to the other side? For the same reason Pavlov observed; doing the same thing over and over again, expecting the different results leaves scars; and if American foreign policy has not learned anything, why has it not learned from 1948, 1967, 1973, 2006, 2014: that Israel is not going quietly into that dark night; but the lame duck just might.
