Terror May Have Religious Connection; But Never a Righteous OneReader comment on item: Terrorism Defies Definition Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Dec 4, 2014 at 17:20 The Middle East and terror have become synonymous to some in more recent observations about who shall reign supreme in the region; Hamas, Hizbollah, the PA's Fatah et al, and now ISIL, all vying for recognition in ghastly manifestations of who can be the most diabolical by the letting of blood of indiscriminate victims. There is no argument of terror not being restricted to the Middle East (terror and related tactics reaching into the ancient annals globally), yet due to the 'religious' implications of much of these actions occurring in the 'holy land,' religion is the umbrella term that even the irreligious will use, if for no other reason than to be able to impugn and accuse the Almighty as the Adversary does. From this perspective, it can be seen that dragging religion through the ambitions of ruthless chases of power is decidedly one of the more antithetical conflicts of the human condition, for as alluded to in at least a couple of these earlier exchanges, religion is a form of an attempted 'relinking' to the higher power, as so many would have us to believe. But getting closer to the Almighty has been clouded by human thinking that mankind has any ability to approach the throne of heaven, let alone be alone with the deity that most 'religions' espouse. As can be amply demonstrated by the terror all combatant entities commit, even in the name of the religion they claim, none appear to be seeking the love of the Almighty; indeed, judgment should be expected instead. The Biblical letter of James, half-brother to Yeshua HaMashiach, was quoted in one of the other posts, which illuminates one of the more deeply compelling arguments (we war because we lust) about why terror measures its accomplishments in blood: blood has always been the medium of sacrifice, even in its malevolent and indiscriminate wasting of human life. Conversely, its only proscribed use is in a holy manifestation of redeeming mankind to the Almighty, which is NOT in the taking of more human casualties, but in recognizing by faith in the One eternal sacrifice that love, not terror, is what the Eternal seeks of humanity. That being said, terror and religion are linked; but neither are true paths to righteousness, which the true Almighty seeks from all, and only through the Son.
