I agree. "Religion" , perhaps , cannot be defined since it cannot be "Known" that is since it is , by definition a system of belief. With the Christian narrative, God's enterance into human history was a singular and unique event. Obviously, other belief systems pre dated Christianity, but with Christ we see the distinct separation of politics and faith. Prior to Jesus, the Diety and the political ruler were one.We see remnants of this dogma in the Shinto's of Japan. His execution was precisely because, in His religion, He has no kingdom on earth. Pilate's kingdom was on earth and it was a political decision to kill this Jesus, regardless where he believed His kingdom was.
