Jewish stateReader comment on item: A Quiet Clash at the Swedish Foreign Ministry Submitted by Jean Granville (France), Nov 14, 2014 at 09:16 The 1948 UN partition plan called for the establishment of a "Jewish state" (and of an "Arab state"), and Sweden voted in favour of it, so one wonders what problem they now have with the "Jewish state" language. The same question applies to many other countries. More generally, I don't think Israel has much to fear from that kind of hostility. It's a distant hostility, from people who don't really have a dog in this fight, and generally don't really know what they are talking about. The war is being won or lost on the ground, locally, not in the international media, the UN, Stockholm, or even Washington.
