(United States), Nov 25, 2014 at 10:32 Hi, Sheila I agree with you: Islam is being taught every month in the teachers' newsletter; but I doubt that the LA school system has had a course in Judaism at any time in its history. It would be wonderful, if religious studies courses were actually taught in public schools, with a Muslim imam teaching Islam, a Jewish rabbi teaching Judaism, a Catholic priest teaching Catholicism, etc. Imagine that happening, without some atheist lawyers going berserk! Still, I think it's a good idea. Religion exists; and it goes against reason, for the government to try to shield students from that reality. But presenting one religion only, namely, Islam, smacks of a real breach of the First Amendment.
