Give slack - absolutely! But applaud self-goals?

Oh, I can promise you I give Israel slack -gladly. My frustration is about dealing with people who don't. I know that haters of Israel and Jews will hate no matter what. But there are also "fence-sitters" who might be easier to bring over to our side if Israel could avoid doing/saying things that freak critics out in situations where no real good comes out of the action or words.
