To Ad Or Not To Ad?Reader comment on item: That Failed Philadelphia "Islamic Jew-Hatred" Bus Ad Submitted by Yonason (United States), May 26, 2015 at 19:36 I used to live there. I used to ride SEPTA. The majority of the patrons either don't care, or wouldn't be positively swayed by an ad like that, in my opinion. If anything, it might inspire the hateful to become more so. As to the "inaccuracies," I can spot a few which make the ad disjointed and grating, as good a method as any to detract from a message. Still, the assertion that Islam teaches hate of all non-Muslims, and that is essentially correct. But so what? I don't see the point of urging people to respond in kind to a message of hate. I do disagree that it would have been better to try to pit "moderate" Islam against "Islamisn," because it is really all the same Islam. Just because some don't act out the hate they are being taught doesn't mean there's some "good" Islam out there to be found. There isn't. If you think there is, then show me it's new and improved Koran. Absent a clear and effective message, which I'm currently unable to imagine, I think the best course would have been none. Paying for a billboard advertising the fact that the grass is green doesn't seem like the best use of one's resources. When an ad not only doesn't add to one's credibility, but detracts; it's a pretty good sign ;-) it was a waste of time.
