Moderate Islam

You write: "How might have the ad been more effectively composed? Simple: by distinguishing between the religion of Islam and the totalitarian ideology of Islamism, as in, 'Radical Islam is the problem, moderate Islam is the solution. Non-Muslims and patriotic Muslims must band together to fight ISIS, Boku Haram, CAIR, and ISNA. Islamist-Watch.org'."

But what is this "moderate Islam" to be based on? If on the acts and words of Muhammad and the bulk of the teachings of the Koran, then there is no such thing as "moderate Islam." Pure Islam is what ISIS and the other terrorist groups are enacting. So, there are only two directions for "moderate" Muslims: away from the true teachings (apostasy) or toward the true teachings (jihadism). Or to stay neutral, or as you call it "moderate," and ignorant of what their Founder promulgated personally and in his legacy.
