Impact on the average American....Reader comment on item: That Failed Philadelphia "Islamic Jew-Hatred" Bus Ad Submitted by Jon Loew (United States), May 27, 2015 at 09:40 Daniel - As always you are spot on with your analysis. However, I think you may have overlooked another possible outcome. It is my belief that some of the average Americans who had not solidifed their opinions about Jews were helped by these ads. I wonder how many people who viewed the ads said to themselves - "you know, I never really liked Jews, but I thought it was just me. But hey - 1 billion people can't be wrong, and if it was written in a holy book 1,000 years ago it must be true!" I'm not sure why Jewish people think it will have a positive impact on outsiders if we point out how much people don't like us. Do the Yankees promote Red Sox fans who hate the Yankees? Do they Yankees promote their worst season? No. What exactly was the intended goal here? To prove that there are Muslims who hate Jews? I could think of a few hundred ways to validate that theory - for much less money too. So for all of you Jewish doctors, nurses, construction workers, lawyers bankers, roofers, etc who all of the sudden think you are ad/marketing execs - do us all a favor and stick to your day job.

I don't know if that ad had this impact but it is certainly something the sponsor should have worried about. Reader comments (22) on this item
