Thank goodness your prognosis of the Turkish elections yesterday was wrong!Reader comment on item: Turkey's Unimportant Election Submitted by Bob (United States), Jun 8, 2015 at 15:29 Dear Mr. Pipes, Thankfully, your assessment that Turkey's elections yesterday would be "among the least important" in the country's recent history turned out to be very wrong! Erdogan's imperial presidency project is over. This was a pivotal election and the AKP was put in its place. Despite the very real concerns you highlighted in your WT OpEd, the electorate should be congratulated. While the months ahead will be volatile, yesterday's election outcome will go down as one of the most important in Turkey's recent history. Best regards, Bob

I predict that Erdoğan will ignore these results and keep building his tyranny. Time will tell. Reader comments (18) on this item
