reply to Michael SReader comment on item: Turkey's Unimportant Election Submitted by Dr.awwad (India), Jun 10, 2015 at 02:40 Dear Michael S, Thanks for the comment .Yes I did raise this point particularly because of the events taking place in Turkey ever since Erdogan came to power and cut short the influence of the army in the political affairs of the country .However ,the army was and will always play a role in the decision making although it is more of a civilian governance but many analysts felt that the drift toward Islamization of the country and he emasculated the powerful army of Turkey to the disliking of many generals .So the important of these election lies in his defeat in getting two third majority which will keep the army at bay . However many feels that it is an end of era for Erdogan and future integrity and stability of the country will be at stake, with the rise of right wing and nationalist parties ,so the army will step in the near future like Egypt .This is my opinion regard Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
