Consider this!Reader comment on item: Americans Battle the Arab-Israeli Conflict Submitted by There is NO Santa Claus (United States), Jun 28, 2015 at 08:54 In a world void of anti-Semitism, the War Against Israel could not possibly exist. What we see on college campuses today is "activism" that is being promoted, even funded by anti-Semites. The goal isn't to influence U.S. policy on Israel. The goal is to make it unbearable for Jews to attend institutions of higher education. Yes! There are Zionists who often fail to consider the sacrifices Israel makes when it enters armed combat. I try to impress upon these people that if we truly desire an independent Jewish State, we must allow it to be independent of us in formulating national policy. There is cooperation between Israel and Arabs that might seem quite bizzare to Americans. There is more cooperation between Israel and Gaza than meets the eye. I won't elaborate and I think Dr. Pipes may have given some hints about some of that. For example, there is daily cooperation between the Gaza Electric Authority and Israel. Years ago, the IEEE Spectrum magazine ran an anti-Israel hatchet job on electricity supply to Gaza. An official from the Gaza Electric Authority posted a blog entry on the article de-bunking many of the claims and indicating that there is ongoing cooperation between them and Israel. That's just one example. Contrary to what is "reported" in the media, many tons of supplies and trade travel between Gaza and Israel. The Israelis try to control weaponry, but in general, the supplies don't cross the border without cooperation between the two sides. I commend Dr. Pipes for his column. I think it is very instructive. And remember! Job number one is to combat anti-Semitism. Opposing the national existence of a Jewish State is anti-Semitic and discriminatory, so don't let any one fool you with the claim that the two issues are not connected. Once people accept the national existence of an INDEPENDENT Jewish State, the whole argument starts to become far more civil in nature.
