We Should NOT Be Surprised - But Many Still remain So

Michael S is correct in his contention that the ostrich attitude of the American leadership has taken America down a path of self destruction in such a steep and spiraling pace that only a miracle of Biblical proportions will be necessary to reclimb out of the hole America is still digging for herself. It might be said America's redemption is in the hands of people that would be friends of Israel; but we have seen how Sec of State Kerry has already sold that out.

Technically, America has been at war with Islamism since it ran afoul of Muslim pirates on the high seas in Jefferson's days; truly, there has been no change of the Muslim mind since then, even after the breaking of Ottoman control last century. A resurgent Islam has been in fight mode since that time to regain all that was lost, and more. The tide changed in the late twentieth century when the death of a thousand (actually more) cuts of Middle East oil began to reshape foreign policies and America was targeted singularly for her role in supporting Israel, the blood oath enemy of all that is Islam.

Now that Islam is embraced in the White House, and has been increasingly so since the Cairo 2009 speech, the real surprise is that the democrats have not chosen another Muslim sympathizer for the candidacy. But there may be a reason for that: 2016 is not locked in for a significant change in the modus operandi of the American government since no one now running appears fully (or even partially in some cases) capable to take Amera back from the freefall now being experienced.

So it may be that, as some have said, the leadership of America will have to be brokered (whether Democrat or Republican-which remains to be seen); and that may become the ultimate surprise.
