I will let Samuel (1.17.50) answer this comment: "So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him". So Goliath was dead when he was beheaded. Further, 46 "This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I'll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you into our hands." So it is not by the spear or sword that David was killed; but by a sling shot. Let me also remind you that nowhere in the Quran (which is cruel enough) occur passages such as this : "You shall surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword". This is just one of the milder orders of God; it calls for an investigation to start with. Others ask for killing of also babies in the womb with the edge of the sword, which shows God as a cruel, crude tribal warrior-leader. Quran is but a recitation of the Bible by an illiterate man, who tried, along the way, to soften some of the more heinous 'punishments' numbered out by God in Numbers, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Leviticus (not necessarily in that order).

If the Jihadists were to catch me one day and give me the option of beheading or burning alive on a stake for being a (male) witch as was practised in Christian Europe, I would certainly opt for the former. Religion, unlikely as it might appear in the face of it, regenerates the worst murder instincts in man. Crusade was the forerunner of jihadism. That's the unpalatable truth, written many times over, in the pages of human history.
