Two Things Need To Happen

First, the booming population of Egypt and other Third World basket cases should not be exported to First World countries or we may eventually find ourselves in the same over-crowded basket.

Second, Egypt needs to get a handle on controlling its population; Western aid should be conditioned on evidence of progress towards that goal.

I've read opinions about the role Islam plays as an obstructive force on birth control without a clear indication that it is necessarily a major factor.
It's a shame that Egypt is having such terrible problems now that it has a half-way decent government.
