The Spirit Of Europe Is ConformismReader comment on item: More on the Burkini Ban Submitted by Dave (United States), Aug 31, 2016 at 18:02 As one may recall, America was settled by people who were sometimes fleeing European religious intolerance. The Church of England did not tolerate non-conformists, like the Pilgrims. That tradition is alive and well today. It is not only reflected in the burkini ban, but also in restrictions on freedom of speech as seen by the outrageous prosecutions of Islam critics like Geert Wilders, Tommy Robinson, Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff and others. Robert Spencer of JihadWatch.org was barred from entering Britain based on his Islam-critical statements. Thus, it would seem that Europe is trying to ban those manifestations of Islam it deems insufficiently European, as well as any criticisms of Islam it considers too harsh. And it wasn't too long ago that Europe had major Jewish problem. Maybe it's because, deep down, many Europeans are insecure about themselves and are therefore afraid of differences. How boring.
