Transfer is not a dirty word, says Ben Shapiro

Reader comment on item: The Three-Way Option: Arab States, Israel, Palestinians

I am so uninvolved with whatever happens in the Middle East that I tremble at the thought of making a sensible reply.

My views, informed as they may be from whatever comes to my computer is this: It's too late . The fact--and it has to be acknowledge as a fact--that for a conflict to persist this long the moment of resolution has long since passed. Views, issues and desires have hardened the longer the conflict persisted. There is no "magic bullet".

I don't mean to pooh-pooh the ides of enlarging the number of players but surely that could not be a novel idea sprouting de nova in the minds of the parties most involved.

An initial test of my view would be the embassy move promising Armageddon. I say it's a bluff. Indeed, the parties have bluffed themselves into a stalemate and they wonder: "Why can't we all get along". [ Digress: The same theme occurs in American race relations--and that has been going on for 3 hundred years all because America received only 350,000 slaves, unlike Brazil, who got 2 million. In Brazil the whites are a minority and there is no similar "race problem". All a matter of the historical quirk of numbers. Resolution? "Transfer is not a dirty word", says Ben Shapiro. Hint? ]

The answer is "They don't want to get along!" The parties believe , if only given enough time, their vision will win.

I'm reminded of the true Islamic radical. In his mind you--the West--have no comprehension of the conflict. He believes: "We have already won. It's a fait acomplia He and all his comrades are self-assured of that. It's only a matter of time Islam will be universal. Makes no difference if I die. There will always be someone else to continue the fight . Allah has promised us victory. "

My thinking is the President has to make another "Cairo"'-like speech--but this time involve the Arab states-- the Palestinians will be apportioned in accordance with the population number of the Arab States.
