Muslims MUST Lead Reform Against "Radical/Extremist" IslamReader comment on item: A White House Initiative to Defeat Radical Islam Submitted by Mike Ramirez, Feb 20, 2017 at 09:51 Dr. Pipes, I have observed the many thoughts and planned ideas by "non-Muslims" and even "moderate-Muslims" on how to combat Radical/Extremist Islamists. As you pointed out, "Who is the enemy? It's been over 15 years since 9/11 and still this fundamental question still rattles around." The enemy is the "Handbook" used by radical/extremist Islamists to justify their actions ever since the year 622, and the religious leaders who indoctrinate followers into the ways of jihad against any and all non-Muslim societies. The militant source of indoctrination is none other than the Qur'an and Ahadith (sayings of Muhammad). How to reform the ideology of: "Born a Muslim, always a Muslim" and anyone who leaves the Islamic religion is to be killed? I believe the answer needs to rest in the hands of all those who claim to be "peaceful and moderate Muslims". There needs to be a concerted effort and gathering of the moderate Muslims to begin an action plan to reform the teachings of militant/radical Islam and "out" any jihadist in their midst. There is an Hadith in Islamic theology (Sahih Bukhari) where Muhammad proclaimed that if anyone had a disagreement with the Qur'an he/she should stop reciting it. THIS is the ONLY loophole whereby Muslims can forego the mandated recitations and have the opportunity to challenge the militant verses in the Qur'an and Ahadith and develop a Reformed Islam that can be truly moderate, tolerant of all and peaceful. Until that happens, we will continue to see new converts becoming radicalized and "devout Muslims" who are indoctrinated to follow each tenet of the Qur'an and Muhammad's sayings continue to believe it is their obligation to wage jihad and strike terror into the hearts of all non-Muslims until the entire world comes under Islamic rule. That, right now, is the goal and has been since 622 when Muhammad stated that he was "commanded to fight" until Islam prevailed in the world.
